A rich collection of archeological and architectural sites are found in the ancient city of Anuradhapura. It's the first capital of Sri Lanka ruled by several great kings from 380 BC and continued for 600 years. The great history and the well-preserved ruins  have named the place as a UNESCO world heritage site.

The ruins of enormous sky high Dagabos, luxury  palace, stone pillars with stunning carvings, ancient pools, hotels, clubs, temples, and cemeteries are amazing views to capture at Anuradhapura.

Sri Maha Bho tree, Ruwanveliseya, Lowamahapaya, Abhayagiriya, Kuttam pokuna are must visit in Anuradhapura. The artificial reservoirs and tanks made by the ancient kings are great places to sit under a tree and relax looking at the choppy water.

Troops of monkeys who are really common on the site make the place more enjoyable and entertaining with their funny actions.

The endless green paddy fields and the simple local life based on agriculture will add a new experience to your journey around the world.

Conclusion-Ancient city of Anuradhapura is the best place to visit in Sri Lanka rich in Archeological sites with a number of sacred and religious landmarks.

This also another place with ruins and old things. But lot more interesting than other archeological places. Sigiriya is an ancient fortress built on a rock. Guess the height? How about 600 feet!!

The place was build 1600 year ago is a masterpiece. It's old but not bored at all. The amazing water parks, pools, pavilions, gardens, and the palace are true wonders. Painting of the nude ladies and the Mirror wall are major sight there.Sigiriya is the most popular UNESCO world heritage site found in Sri Lanka.

Conclusion-A must visit.A best place for people who loves a bit of adventure and climbing.Plus some history.

City of Polonnaruwa

Vatadagaeya-Polonnaruwa
This may feel like very similar to the Ancient city of Anuradhapura. But believe me, it's completely different from Anuradhapura.

Polonnaruwa is the second capital of Sri Lanka.
This also was a capital based on Buddhism so almost every king who ruled Polonnaruwa tried to build monasteries and Dagabos for monks.

So huge Dagabos, amazing  monasteries and stunning statues of lord Buddha are not rare to find in Polonnaruwa. Vatagadeya, palace of King Parakramabahu the great, Parakrama samudraya and the statue of King Parakramabahuda the great are must visit at Polonnaruwa.Polonnaruwa is also  another UNESCO world heritage site found in Sri Lanka.

Polonnaruwa is the bit higher in degrees when it comes to temperature. But What I love there is the wind. The Wind at Polonnaruwa is also dry, as Polonnaruwa is in the dry zone of Sri Lanka. But still the wind is strong enough to make you make fun of it.;)

Conclusion-Polonnaruwa is an ancient city with well-preserved ruins rich in archeological and architectural value.

So Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa or Sigiriya? What's your favourite place in tody's list? (Comment below);)

Hope you enjoy today's post.Any suggestions leave them in the comment's too.See you on next Thursday!
